Jawa bikes in India have been successful, with their sleek design matched only by their powerful performance and pocket-friendly prices. Jawa has a range of three models on sale in India, the Standard and 42 powered by the 293cc 27bhp engine, and the Perak, the current halo model with a 334cc, 30bhp engine.
By 2021, Jawa bikes in India have upgraded two models of its already existing bikes. The new Java 42, dubbed version 2.1, is currently priced at Rs. 1.84 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has a handful of upgrades to both its style and performance.
The new Jawa 42 offers the first single-cylinder engine that also uses cross port technology. It is equipped with 13-spoke alloy wheels with tubeless tires and bar-end mirrors. It is also available in various colors, including AllStar Black, Sirius White, and Orion Red. With its redesigned seats, cushioning, and improved suspension on the bike, you can rest assured of a smooth ride.
The Jawa 42 remains the same (293cc single cylinder engine), but it does have a few modifications. The powerful motor churns out 27.33 PS of max power and a maximum torque of 27.02 Nm, along with a repositioned lambda sensor that helps the bike offer more consistent performance with fewer emissions.
On the other hand, the Jawa Perak is a classic example of a ‘bobber’ bike with minimalistic bodywork and a focus on speed. The newest version retails at Rs. 1.97 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) is on the more affordable side for a bike category. It is available in only one color- black.
The Perak offers a single cylinder 334cc engine with a maximum power of 30.64 PS and a maximum torque of 32.74 Nm. It is comfortable even for shorter riders with a low seat height of 750 mm, though you might not get enough space to add a second seat.
However, one major disadvantage with the Jawa is that the lack of suspension could mean an uncomfortable ride, especially if you drive on uneven roads for long distances. Despite this, the Perak is an agile bike that would suit you best if you like shorter rides.
